Man shot, killed in DeKalb County neighborhood

Posted: Updated:
DECATUR, Ga. -

Paul Taylor was a father figure for many people in his neighborhood in DeKalb County. On Sunday, he was shot to death in his home just outside of Decatur.

Investigators say Taylor may have been the victim of a botched robbery. They believe someone broke into his home while Taylor was gone. When he returned, he found the man inside the home and confronted him. There was a struggle, and police say that's when Taylor was shot and killed.

Police think the person may have been looking for money.

One family friend said there is a huge void in her life after his death.

"I'll never forget him. He might be gone, but he will always be in my heart," said the family friend, Jasmine.

As police continue to investigate the deadly shooting, they say a witness may be the key to the case. Investigators say Taylor wasn't alone when he came home on Sunday, and they are hoping that person got a good look at the suspect and can lead to an arrest in the case.
