YCSO: Man shoots girlfriend in leg during argument

A man was arrested after allegedly shooting a woman in the leg during a domestic dispute early Sunday morning.

Yuma County Sheriff's deputies say they received 911 calls that a woman had been shot in the leg at a home near I-8 and Fortuna Road.

When deputies arrived, a neighbor was giving first aid to a woman and 30-year-old Jose Rodriguez was being held by a bystander.

The woman was taken to a hospital with a gunshot wound.

Deputies say Rodriguez shot the woman with a .40 caliber pistol while they were arguing. Officers found the gun at the home.

There were three children. ages 5, 9 and 11, at the home during the shooting.

Rodriguez was booked into the Yuma County Jail on charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault and endangerment.
