Man allegedly kills girlfriend, turns self into police

EL MIRAGE, Ariz. -

El Mirage Police say a 53-year-old man was arrested after confessing to killing his girlfriend at their home on Saturday night.

Philbert July walked into a police station in central Phoenix and allegedly told officers he had killed his girlfriend at their home near El Mirage and Cactus Roads.

Officers say they went to the home and found a woman dead.

While interviewing July, detectives say he told them he and his girlfriend had been drinking and then got into an argument. It was then that July allegedly killed her.

Police haven't released how the woman was killed.

July was taken to jail and booked on one count of Second Degree Murder. Police say he may face additional charges.
