SURPRISE, Ariz. -

A suspect was arrested in the shooting of two men after an apartment party early Saturday morning.

Surprise Police say 22-year-old Rudy David Armendariz was arrested after shooting two men outside an apartment complex near Reems and Bell Road.

A physical fight broke out at an apartment party just before 3 a.m.

When police arrived, they say they heard gunshots and found one man with gunshot wounds to his hand and another with gunshot wounds to both his hand and abdomen.

One man was flown to a hospital and is expected to recover. The second man went to a hospital for treatment before speaking to police.

Witnesses told officers Armendariz was hiding in the apartment where the party occurred.

Police say they found Armendariz and the pistol used in the shooting.

He was taken into custody and admitted to police that he had shot the men during a fight in the parking lot of the complex.

Armendariz was arrested and booked into jail for two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and four counts of misconduct involving weapons.
