Fridge drawers, blender gaskets among germiest spots in kitchens

You might think your kitchen is pretty clean. After all, you wipe the counter after you cook and you wash the dishes.

But, when the National Sanitation Foundation had 20 families swab their kitchens for germs, they found E. coli, salmonella, listeria and mold all over.

The study says that most people think the germiest place is the microwave keypad, but researchers found that the top germ spots were the refrigerator vegetable and meat drawers, the blender gaskets, can openers, and rubber spatulas. Refrigerator water and ice dispensers were also on the list of trouble.
