FOX 32 Sunday: Reporter’s Notebooks: Kelly sworn into office

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Robin Kelly is now the congressman or woman of the second district. Our cameras were there Tuesday night when it became official.

Special election was held in February after the former congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. resigned from his seat because of medical reasons. Then, months later he was indicted and charged with campaign fraud.

Kelly says it's a new day in the district. The day after the election she flew to Washington to pick an office and get a staff together and was sworn into that post last Thursday.

Kelly says she wants to rebuild trust in that district, create jobs and her top priority--doing something about common sense gun laws.
