PHILADELPHIA -

A 24-year-old man was arrested in connection to a double shooting that left one man in critical condition but didn't injure another victim, after police say the bullet lodged in his belt buckle and never struck his body.

The shooting happened Wednesday around 3:45 p.m. on the 2700 block of Dickinson Street.

Two officers were on patrol when they heard several gunshots in the area.

According to police, the officers saw the suspect armed with a gun and chased him to the 1400 block of S. Newkirk Street, where he was placed in custody.

Police have identified the suspect as Edward Lyons.

Investigators say a 24-year-old man who was shot was taken to The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania with a gunshot wound to his stomach. The second victim, a 38-year-old, was saved from a bullet by his belt buckle, police said.
