Ariz. highway partially reopens after accident

Updated:

WIKIEUP, Ariz. (AP) - Southbound travel on the highway that is a main travel route between Phoenix and Las Vegas resumed in northwestern Arizona after being closed several hours because of a one-vehicle accident Thursday morning.

Southbound lanes of US 93 about seven miles south of Wikieup (WICK'-ee-up) were closed because of the accident, but traffic has resumed in both directions.

The Arizona Department of Transportation says traffic in both directions is using northbound lanes while the southbound lanes are cleaned up.

There's no estimate on full reopening and drivers should expect delays in the meantime.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety says a tractor-trailer rig rolled over but that nobody was injured.

Wikieup is located between Interstate 40 and Wickenburg and is approximately 130 miles northwest of Phoenix.

If an iced coffee from Dunkin' Donuts is part of your afternoon routine, expect a nudge to buy a cookie or doughnut you didn't plan on. Dunkin' Brands CEO Nigel Travis said in a phone interview Thursday that the company is pushing to get its cashiers to "upsell" to afternoon customers. It's part of an effort to increase sales after stores have emptied out after the morning rush.
