SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) -

A man accused of robbing the TCF Bank in Royal Oak on Wednesday was apprehended in Southfield.

Police were in the area responding to another call when the bank teller tripped the alarm.

Officers followed the suspect's white Volvo through busy intersections in Royal Oak, Berkeley and Southfield. Officers took turns tailing the suspect through flooded streets in the heavy rain.

The chase ended when an officer intentionally rammed the suspect's car in the area of Pierce and Eleven Mile Road in Southfield.

The suspect was taken into custody. A Southfield police officer is being treated for minor injuries.

Police believe the suspect may be responsible for robbing six other banks across Oakland County in the last four months. Police say the man was armed in at least one of the robberies.

The FBI has joined the investigation.

It appears the subway bedbug problem we've been reporting is getting worse. Commuters already have to contend with sweltering platforms, scurrying rats and packed train cars, and now there's another transit woe: fear of bedbugs.
