Atlanta motorist upset with ParkAtlanta tickets

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

An Atlanta motorist says ParkAtlanta is issuing him fines for vehicles he does not own. Jim Christians says that when he's tried to straighten the matter out he gets the runaround from the company.

Christians said that the problems go back 14 months and he says he's sick of it.

He said ParkAtlanta officials told him that the ticket was for a Honda Civic; he has a Toyota Lexus. He said that the only thing that seems to match up with notices is the vanity plate that he's had since 1966. The plate is the letter "C", which stands for Christians last name.

ParkAtlanta, the private company responsible for parking enforcement in the city of Atlanta, acknowledged the mistake in the February 2012 notice. However, Christians said that the same kind of thing is happening frequently.

Christians said that the notice said that his car could be impounded if his car is stopped for any violation.

A ParkAtlanta official told FOX 5 that there was an input error done by several parking clerks. That official said that Christians will be getting an apology and a clean ticket record.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is holding its monthly board meeting, two days after it heard from a panel on what it needs to do to improve its accountability and efficiency and restore public trust.
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey could rescind a $1-a-year lease for a park-and-ride lot near the Lincoln Tunnel. The agency's chief of real estate and development told a committee Wednesday that it should change a deal made in 2012. Published reports have alleged that former Port Authority chairman David Samson voted to approve the lease even though his law firm did business with New Jersey Transit, which operates the park-and-ride lot.
