INTERVIEW: Defense attorney discusses Schaffhausen trial

Posted: Updated:

The first week of the Aaron Schaffhausen murder trial is complete, and FOX 9 News spoke with criminal defense attorney Joe Tamburino to get his take on the proceedings so far.

Watch the video for more information.

On Friday, Schaffhausen's former coworkers testified they repeatedly heard him say that he wanted to kill his ex-wife, their children and the man she was dating in the months before he killed his three young daughters.

Schaffhausen pleaded guilty last week to three counts of first-degree intentional homicide in the deaths of his three young daughters, whose bodies were found in their River Falls home last July; however, he contends he was not responsible for the killings because of mental illness.

Prosecutors maintain he was sane, arguing that he killed the girls to take revenge on his ex-wife because he was angry with her for divorcing him and for seeing another man.
