CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

An injured dog is recovering from bad burns and injuries after being rescued in the south suburbs on Thursday.

The non-profit Chicago animal rescue, It's a Pittie Rescue, says a pitbull named Petunia was found on the side of the road in Monee with burns on over 20 percent of her body. To top it off, she's pregnant and expecting in the next few weeks.

Despite all she has been through, a rescue worker says the pup is in good spirits. She has started to receive burn treatment, pain medications and hydrotherapy and is expected to recover fully.

It's a Pittie Rescue works solely on donations. To donate to help cover the cost of Petunia's pet bills, visit It's a Pittie Rescue's website.
