Mom Details Potential Predator's Attempt To Lure Son

Posted: Updated:
TREDYFFRIN TWP., Pa. -

Tara Owens' nerves are still rattled.

Her  8-year-old son and his friend may have come face to face with a

potential predator driving what they describe as a blue van.

"He waved to them and said come here with some kind of accent."

Owens says the kids didn't take the bait during the alleged Tuesday night incident that happened around 5 on Princeton Rd. in Wayne's Deepdale neighborhood.

Owens son and his friend were playing alone  on the side of the house.

The boys told their parents the blue van drove slowly down the street

then back up. When the male driver  stopped-- the kids claim they

saw something disturbing inside.

"They said they thought they saw toys in the back," said Owens.

In the Deepdale neighborhood that's filled with kids--parents and the neighborhood

watch association started circulating emails alerting homeowners

about the potential problem.

Residents say they've also noticed the Tredyffrin Police Department's

stepped up patrols.

Owens is  thankful her son and friend are alright. Now she's just trying to strike the right balance between parenting and unwarranted paranoia.

"It's  scary. I just want him to be aware. There's a fine balance
between scaring a child and having them aware. They have to be careful."

Since seeing the van Tuesday there're reportedly been two other sightings reported to police.
