PHOENIX (AP) - A man accused in a fatal shooting last year in Phoenix is being held on suspicion of first-degree murder, armed robbery and aggravated assault.

Maricopa County prosecutors say 18-year-old Samuel Ramon Valenzuela had his initial court appearance Friday.

He was arrested Thursday in connection with the death of 20-year-old George Nunez last Nov. 25.

Phoenix police say Valenzuela was arrested after officers stopped a vehicle that matched one sought in a burglary case.

Officers say they found a gun, marijuana and items reported stolen in the car.

They then discovered that Valenzuela was wanted on a warrant in the fatal shooting and arrested him.

Valenzuela told police that he had been on the run and homeless for the past five months and requested a lawyer for his case.
