Subway train kills teen on Upper West Side

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

A subway train struck and killed a teenager at the 79th Street station on the Upper West Side.

The victim has been identified as Liam Armstrong, a student at Smithtown High School, on Long Island.

The NYPD says that Armstrong and his friends were crossing the track tunnel from the northbound side of the subway to the southbound when a No. 2 train passing through the station on a center express track hit one of the boys.

Armstrong died at the scene.

There were no 1, 2, and 3 trains between Times Square and 96 Street in both directions, while 2 trains were running on the 5 line in both directions between Nevins Street in Brooklyn and 149 Street-Grand Concourse in the Bronx during the police investigation.
