GLENDALE, Calif. -

A driver loses control and his car ends up on a roof!

Reports indicate it appears the driver is an elderly man who was trying to pull out of his driveway.

His car clipped another house before landing on a neighbor's roof.

The crash caught the attention of people who live nearby -- with some of them stepping up to help.

"The reason the people aren't still in the car is I brought a ladder up six houses to get them off the roof, in case something had happened, a fire or anything.  So that's my contribution to the neighborhood," said Paul Harris, a neighbor.

Glendale Fire Captain Carlos Guerrero adds, "At approximately about 5:45 this afternoon, Glendale units responded to a vehicle on top of a structure on the 400 block of Audraine Drive.  Upon arrival, our units found a vehicle was on top of the garage of the structure and both occupants had self-extricated out of the vehicle and came down the ladder."

The driver and the woman who was in the car with him are said to be okay.
