PHOENIX (AP) - A sports car believed to be involved in a fatal hit & run crash in Phoenix was cleaned and had its broken windshield removed before police impounded it.

Court records released Friday show that the windshield to the red 1984 Alfa Romeo two-door convertible was later found in the garbage at the Phoenix home of 46-year-old Christopher Wakefield Chevalier.

Chevalier was arrested Thursday. He's being held on $15,000 bail on suspicion of manslaughter, tampering with physical evidence and leaving the scene of a fatal collision.

Police say 41-year-old Anna Blaze died in a hospital on March 4.

That was a day after a car drove onto the sidewalk near Northern Avenue and 11th Street and struck Blaze as the mother of 2 was walking with a friend.

Chevalier's attorney didn't immediately return calls Friday.
