Daughter of slain Oklahoma couple found dead

Posted: Updated:

SHAWNEE, Okla. (AP) -- Authorities say the woman found shot to death Thursday at a Shawnee home is the daughter of an Oklahoma couple killed two years ago in New Mexico.

Shawnee police say Cathy Byus was found dead by officers conducting a welfare check. Authorities arrested her husband, Justin Byus, in connection with the killing.

Prosecutors say Cathy Byus' parents, Gary and Linda Haas, were killed by an inmate who escaped an Arizona prison. John McCluskey is scheduled for trial this summer.

Cathy Byus sued the company that operated the prison and the Arizona Department of Corrections. Her attorney tells The Oklahoman the suits were settled for an undisclosed amount of money.

Justin Byus is being held in the Pottawatomie County jail. Authorities did not know if he had an attorney.
