NOGALES, Ariz. (AP) - Federal authorities say a Mexican woman is in custody for allegedly trying to smuggle more than 26 pounds of cocaine into southern Arizona.
The drugs were seized Tuesday by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Dennis DeConcini port of entry in Nogales.
CBP officers referred 21-year-old Lilia Guadalupe Martinie-Munoz of Nogales, Sonora, for further inspection of her sedan.
After a narcotics detection canine alerted officers to the presence of drugs, they reported finding 10 packages of cocaine in the trunk of the vehicle.
Authorities say cocaine has a street value of about $237,000.
CBP officials say the drugs and vehicle were processed for seizure. They say Martinie-Munoz was arrested and faces prosecution on drug charges.
