Police in Clayton County say a day laborer looking for work was also looking to rob someone. Authorities say the worker pulled a gun on one man and then stole a vehicle from another in just a matter of minutes.
Authorities say a man seeking help on a job picked up 43-year-old Trevance Currie as a day laborer and then stopped at a McDonald's restaurant to get him something to eat.
"The driver went inside the restaurant, leaving the offender inside the truck with the keys in the ignition. Using a handgun that was inside of the truck, the offender robbed a man at gunpoint that was parked beside the truck," said Lt. Marc Richards of the Clayton County Police Department.
Police allege that Currie took a gun from the driver's glove box, robbed a man in the restaurant parking lot and then took off in his potential employer's truck.
A police helicopter eventually spotted the victim's truck at a hotel parking lot.
Authorities captured Currie at the same hotel a short time later.
Police charged Currie with armed robbery, motor vehicle theft and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
