Family Business Helping Foot Fashionistas -- And Marines

Posted: Updated:

(FOX 11) We've done tons of stories on how tough California's business climate is, but a good idea is still a good idea.

We met one entrepreneur who's got some fancy footwork.

The business runs out of an Orange County home. The family sorts and packs funny looking US-made shapes on the kitchen table. The product? Gel pads that started out being for high heeled fashionistas. That's how the entrepreneur thought it out back in 2009.

Who knew the fashion conscious boot-wearing Marines would get in on the act and make an Orange County family business quite the success?!

"I never wanted to leave my California home" says Christina Prandino, the woman behind the comfort, who admits "it's not easy doing business in this state, but it's doable and profitable."

She started out with unique, skin adhering comfort pads for feet. Lily Pads are doing well, she says, but "check out the Mark 1" -- not a gun, but the gel product available at Marine exchanges.

"They love it" says her husband, a former military pilot who suggested the idea.

Who knew Marines could be fashion and comfort conscious? If you are not in a military base, you can get the pads by going to bodyandsolecomfort.com.

I haven't tried them, but let me know if you do.
