PHOENIX -

A 53-year-old Sedona woman who previously worked for the Glendale Elementary School District has been indicted on numerous fraud-related charges.

Deborah Lynn Santa Cruz was charged with fraudulent schemes and artifices, theft, misuse of public money, and forgery. She worked as executive secretary to the superintendent of GESD from 2004 to 2008.

The indictment alleges that from January of 2004 to May of 2008, Santa Cruz diverted district funds to an unauthorized personal bank account, to the tune of $14,680. The indictment also alleges that she purchased 715 books with GESD funds but the district never received them.

She then allegedly hit her trail by falsifying bookkeeping entries and purchasing documents.

Santa Cruz retired in June of 2008.
