DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. -

Douglasville police say the former treasurer of a local Girl Scout troop is accused of stealing thousands of dollars from the group.

Darlene Jo Lewis was arrested Friday.  Investigators say she allegedly stole $9,800 from Girl Scout Troop 798.  They say she was treasurer of that same troop from 2010 to 2012, and her daughter was a member of the troop.

Investigators tell FOX 5 Lewis allegedly spent the money she's accused of stealing from the troop on gifts, on her son, and even a senior dating service.  Because of the loss of money, investigators say Troop 798 is being forced to disband.

Lewis faces felony theft by taking charges.  She is being held at the Douglas County Jail.
