(KTTV) Lindsay Lohan accepted a plea deal Monday in a misdemeanor car crash case that includes 90 days in a "locked rehab facility," 30 days of community service and 18 months of psychological therapy.
The troubled starlet pleaded no contest to reckless driving, lying to police and obstructing officers who were investigating the accident involving the actress in June. The "Liz & Dick" star was on probation when her sports car crashed on Pacific Coast Highway while on her way to a film shoot. She has been repeatedly sentenced to jail since 2007 when she was twice arrested for driving under the influence.
"She is to do 90 days at a locked rehab facility," Superior Court Judge James R. Dabney explained. "She is not allowed to leave the facility at all."
Lohan will do her residential rehab and community labor in New York, according to what one of her attorneys told me about an hour after the 26-year-old actress left the courthouse agreeing to a plea deal.
Anthony Falangetti, one of Lindsay's attorneys, says it's important to realize she was given community "labor" not community "service." He says that will be done at a New York women's shelter, but only after her 90 days in a locked-down residential rehab location.
In addition, he say, there is a timetable. First, she must show proof of enrollment in a residential facility by May 2. After serving the three months, she'll spend 30 days working at a shelter. For the last two months, she's had a therapist working with her. Falangetti says the deal requires she continue that for 18 months.
There are also fines, penalties, fees and restitution. That will be determined at a hearing May 2 at the Los Angeles Courthouse in Del Aire. Lohan does not have to attend.
At the end of the court session, the judge said to Lohan, "Don't drive. You're in New York. You don't need to drive." He also stressed the gravity of the situation to Lohan, who has seemingly lucked out time after time in the court room. "You really need to understand…. This is it... Please take this seriously."
The "Freaky Friday" star reportedly missed her original Sunday night flight from New York to Los Angeles, instead traveling on a private plane provided by a Los Angeles-based energy drink company for which she has made promotional appearances.
"Thanks Mr. Pink for the private jet see you all in a few hours in LA," she tweeted early Monday.
When she showed up a court cameras were rolling and flashing and reporters and paparazzi were screaming out questions but no responses. There was one, actually. Someone "glitter bombed" her twice sending a cloud of gold glitter sprinkling through the air. Lohan smiled.
