Gov. Pat Quinn says houses of worship are an effective place to address anti-violence on Chicago's streets.
The Chicago Democrat spent his second consecutive Sunday talking about violence and his efforts at an assault weapons ban.
In a short address before congregants of United Baptist Church, Quinn mentioned the recent shooting death of a baby in Chicago.
He was expected at another church and Chicago synagogue later in the day to help launch an anti-violence campaign with the organization, United Power for Action and Justice.
Quinn supports an assault weapons ban.
He also wants Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan to appeal a federal court's ruling that the state's last-in-the-nation concealed carry ban is unconstitutional. The appeal would be to the U.S. Supreme Court.
