There was an outpouring of support on Friday for a school resource officer critically injured while directing traffic in front of school. Suwanee police and Lanier High School organized a basketball "Hoops Challenge" to benefit Officer Rolando Jimenez.

Gwinnett police say a driver failed to obey the officer's traffic signals last month, hitting Jimenez and then hitting another car, pushing it onto the officer.

Jimenez suffered several injuries including bleeding, a broken jaw and broken pelvis.

Proceeds from Friday's benefit will help in Officer Jimenez's recovery.
