Dozens arrested at vigil for teen shot dead

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

The family of a 16-year-old boy shot dead by police in Brooklyn says they will speak out about the case and the recent protests during vigils for the boy.

The third night of the vigil in East Flatbush, Brooklyn lead to more protests and the arrests of dozens of people.

Police officers were heckled and some had bottles thrown at them at the candlelit vigil on Snyder Ave. Wednesday night.

Forty- six arrests were made, according to the NYPD. More than 100 people attended the vigil including Mahnefah Gray, sister of Kimani Gray, who was issued a summons.

A spokesman for Kimani Gray's parents say they did not speak publicly at the vigil because of the crowd's violent reaction.

The protest came the same day as the medical examiner's office ruled that Gray was hit seven times, and had wounds in both the front and back of his body.

Authorities say Gray was shot by two plainclothes police officers after he pointed a .38-caliber revolver at them on Sunday.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
