Hiker lucky to be alive after falling 200 feet off cliff

Posted: Updated:

After a 2.5 hour long search, crews found a hiker who fell about 200 feet off of a cliff Wednesday afternoon.

Crews went out to the area around 4:30 p.m. to find the 34-year-old male.

Fire Department spokesman Al Gameros said the man fell at Parker's Creek, which is just off Highway 288 near Young, Arizona.

The man suffered head injuries and multiple fractures in the fall.

Crews used a long line to get the man out and then spent the night on scene stabalizing and treating him.

The man's name has not been released, but authorities say he is an experienced mountain climber.
