Sheriff Joe doing much better after breaking shoulder, wife says

PHOENIX -

When Sheriff Joe tripped and fell nearly two weeks ago, he ended up spending a couple of nights in the hospital.

We have an update on his condition. A broken shoulder, turns out, is incredibly painful.

With the sheriff resting, his wife Ava filled us in on how he's doing.

"The sheriff's doing much better now. He's just taking it easy so the shoulder will heal back. He's doing what the doctors told him to do," said Ava.

"His shoulder was broken in two places. He's taking a painkiller."

If the sheriff's left shoulder isn't kept still, there's a chance he may need surgery.

"I'm just trying to keep him very quiet and keep problems away from him at the time. So he can rest," said Ava. "It's a treat to me because I never have him at home."

She says the sheriff is eager to get back to work.

"It's very difficult for him. He's trying very hard to physically get back in there by next week."
