EM protesters slow traffic on I-94 in Detroit

DETROIT (WJBK) -

A slow-moving protest caused problems for morning commuters in Detroit.

SkyFOX video from around 8 a.m. showed drivers slowed on eastbound I-94 at West Grand Blvd. FOX 2's Roop Raj reports the traffic snarl was caused by drivers protesting an emergency manager in Detroit.

The protesters planned to take over all lanes of traffic and drive 20 mph. But Michigan State police broke up the demonstration by pulling over two of the lead vehicles.

As of 8:20 a.m., traffic was back to full speed.

Detroit City Council plans to put forth an appeal Tuesday to Gov. Rick Snyder in a last-ditch effort to avoid an emergency manager in the city.

Earlier this month, Snyder announced a financial crisis in the city.
