Professor takes hydrogen-powered road trip

MARIETTA, Ga. -

The high price of gas has consumers searching for the best bargain or other relief. AAA says the national average of a gallon of gas is $3.70 and gas around metro Atlanta is going for around $3.89.

A Tennessee professor is trying to change that and is driving across country to prove his point. His cross-country cruise is being made solely on alternative fuel.

Dr. Cliff Ricketts is living every motorist's dream a mile at a time. The Middle Tennessee State University professor and alternative fuel researcher is not just on a road trip, but also a quest.

He has been working in alternative fuels for 30 years and has been experimenting with the use of hydrogen for 25 of those years.

His coast-to-coast drive is using no gasoline, no ethanol, but rather solar energy. He won't stop at a gas station once during the trek from Tybee Island to Long Beach, California because his fuel tanks are filled with hydrogen.

The professor and his road crew will fuel their 1994 Toyota Tercel and a 2005 Toyota Prius with hydrogen from water separated by the sun, all of which was produced on the MTSU campus.

The professor is scheduled to arrive in Long Beach, California on March 14th.

The saying art is autobiographical takes on a whole new meaning when your canvas is a fully nude human body, as it is for artist Andy Golub. Andy along with 30 other artists and 45 Technicolor models paraded around several Manhattan hotspots over the weekend for NYC Body Painting day. Believe or not, this is completely legal in New York City.
