Armed man on loose after allegedly assaulting, threatening victim

YUMA, Ariz. -

Deputies are looking for a man they say assaulted and threatened a victim with a gun on Saturday morning.

23-year-old Gary Lynn Smith of Yuma allegedly assaulted and forced a victim into his vehicle in the 1100 block of S. Palm Avenue.

Deputies say he was armed with a handgun and threatened to shoot the victim, kill other unspecified people and then kill himself.

The victim was able to get away from the suspect and contact deputies. They say the assault was domestic related.

Deputies found Smith's vehicle in 100 block of S. 6th Avenue, but couldn't find him in the area.

Smith is considered armed and dangerous.

He's described as an Hispanic male with a light complexion, green eyes, black hair, 5' 10" and 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing a red shirt and black baseball cap and possibly has a black semi automatic handgun.
