NJ Neighbor Thwarts Thieves

Posted: Updated:

Two suspected robbers are in jail, thanks to a concerned neighbor.

44-year-old Paul Miguel and 54-year-old Steve Mitchell were allegedly seen breaking into an elderly man's home on Stacy Street in Burlington, NJ.

The neighbor told police the two men came to her home first, identifying themselves as Water Department employees. Mitchell tried to convince her to go into the basement, while Miguel stayed upstairs. She became suspicious of the duo and told them to leave her house. One of the men pushed her to the ground, then ran out. Nothing was taken from her home.

She later saw the same pair break into another man's home, and quickly leave. Concerned, she called police and told them what happened. Officers pulled over Miguel and Mitchell a few blocks away, and took them into custody.
