Successful women in the workplace, Broadview mother protects her child: Chat Room

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

On Friday's Chat Room, Sun-Times Splash Editor Susanna Negovan and lifestyle consultant Rochelle Trotter discussed Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg's stance on successful women and how having sports legends supporting gay marriage may significantly help the cause.

Sandberg made the cover of TIME magazine, which reads "Don't hate me because I'm successful." She seems to be one of the new faces of feminism. The ladies discussed the wage gap between genders and the way the public views successful men versus successful women.

State lawmakers are currently considering the legalization of same-sex marriage in Illinois. Hall of famers Richard Dent and Mr Cub, Ernie Banks sent a letter to them, saying "it's right for Illinois. It's the right thing to do, period."

Matt Damon and Michael Douglas also recently made the cover of Entertainment Weekly, featuring them in full dress from their Liberace biopic. When well-known male figures are able to go against type and show how many ways a man can be a man, it also helps spread the idea of marriage equality.

How far is too far for a teacher to go in a classroom? Princess Dempsey joined the Chat Room Friday, to speak on how her 11-year-old son's teacher duct-taped his mouth shut and left it on him for 45 minutes while he cried in front of his classmates.

The Lindop School District board member is suing the teacher for what she did.
