Police: 2 dead in shooting at Mesa restaurant

Posted: Updated:
MESA, Ariz. -

Police say a man and woman are dead after an apparent murder-suicide inside a Mesa restaurant.

Mesa police arrived at the scene just before 6 p.m. Thursday and say they found an adult male and an adult female dead of apparent gunshot wounds.

They say early indications are that it's murder-suicide. It's unclear the victims were restaurant owners, employees or customers.

Police spokesman Detective Steve Berry says officers are in the beginning stages of their investigation and he didn't immediately release any details other than saying there are no outstanding suspects or an active shooter.

Another person suffered a gunshot wound to their hip, while another was trampled trying to get out of the restaurant.

The Phu Thanh Vietnamese restaurant is located in a strip mall near Southern Avenue and Extension Road.

No names have been released in this case.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
