KINGMAN, Ariz. (AP) - A jury in Kingman has convicted a man of first-degree murder in the 2009 stabbing death of the 18-year-old daughter of his ex-girlfriend.

The Mohave County Superior Court jury also convicted Darrell Ketchner of attempted first-degree murder, burglary and three counts of aggravated assault.

The Kingman Daily Miner reports that both sides had agreed that Ketchner stabbed Ariel Allison and also attacked her mother, Jennifer Allison, who was shot.

But a central issue in the murder trial was whether Ketchner planned to kill the night he went to the Allison home.

The conviction for first-degree murder means Ketchner could get a death sentence.

The sentencing phase of the trial will begin March 18.
