WESTLAND, Mich. (WJBK) -

A dog that disappeared in Ohio two years ago turned up in metro Detroit.

A driver found the dog and handed him over to an animal rescue group in Westland a few weeks ago.  The dog had a microchip, and the rescue group was able to track down the owners in Columbus.

Tuesday, the owners were reunited with their beloved pet.

"I knew even from the first moment that I met him that he was somebody's loved dog.  This dog is amazing, and I knew that somebody was missing him," said Jennifer Seidl, founder of the Bullys Angels Animal Rescue.  "This story just proves to everyone how very important it is to microchip your dogs and your cats, as well, because this is just going to link them to you."

The owners told us they thought their furry friend was dead.  They are thrilled to have him back.
