KINGMAN, Ariz. (AP) - The Mohave County Board of Supervisors is lifting the 3-year-old ban on the public taking guns into the county's administration building in Kingman.

The supervisors voted 3-2 on Monday to lift the ban and remove the security checkpoint at the building's entrance.

Under the changes taking effect April 1, guns will be permitted in the administration building if they're holstered or in a container such as a purse.

The ban and security screening were implemented in the wake of a protest at a February 2010 board meeting.

Supervisor Steve Moss supports the changes approved Monday. He says the county should not be paralyzed into a make-believe fear that something bad would happen.

The changes approved don't affect other Mohave County buildings.
