Former Dixon comptroller Rita Crundwell's case will be in state court next month.
The Rockford Register Star reports that Lee County Judge Ron Jacobson on April 1 will hear a motion to dismiss state charges against Crundwell. She's serving a federal prison sentence of nearly 20 years after admitting she stole more than $53 million from the northern Illinois city. She also faces dozens of state charges in the case.
Crundwell attorney Paul Gaziano has asked that the state charges be dismissed. He cited double jeopardy. Prosecutors in Lee County say they need more time to determine if Crundwell should face the state charges.
