NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Police have arrested three students at the prestigious Bronx High School of Science in connection with an alleged hazing incident, the Department of Education confirmed.

"An allegation was brought to the attention of the school last Wednesday and three students were arrested," department spokeswoman Marge Feinberg wrote in an email. "The matter is under investigation."

The students were identified in an affidavit as Thomas Brady, 16, Boubacar Diallo, 16, and Pier Berkmans, 17.

The alleged incident involved the track team and the "track events have been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation," Feinberg wrote in an email.

The principal of the school sent a letter home to parents on Friday informing them of the allegation.
