Rep. Luis Gutierrez introduces plan to curb illegal gun sales

Gun control has taken center stage both nationally and in Chicago. Congressman Luis Gutierrez introduced a new plan to stop illegal gun sales.
Gutierrez held a press conference Monday, introducing legislation he'll bring to Capitol Hill that would ban the sale of domestically produced hand guns like "junk guns" or "Saturday night specials."
The congressman said 97% of murders committed in the country last year were committed using this type of gun.
"Can you really raise the issue of reducing gun violence on your street when you're not addressing the issue of the gun that kills nine out of 10 people?" Gutierrez asked.
Gutierrez said he will formally present the legislation in Washington on Tuesday.
He wanted to get the word out in Chicago on Monday, where homicides have severely escalated as of late.
The possibility of strong opposition to this piece of legislation on Capitol Hill is almost certain.
