Larry King: I Tried To Retire, But I Just Couldn't!

Posted: Updated:

Legendary TV newsman Larry King just couldn't stay away from television after retiring from CNN.

"I tried to retire, but I couldn't!" he said on Good Day LA Monday.

You can still watch him four days a week on "Larry King Now," which airs Monday through Thursday at 5 p.m. ET on Hulu and Ora TV.

King told Steve Edwards and Maria Sansone about a new partnership between his Larry King Cardiac Foundation and Quest Diagnostics. Together, they're providing  free blood tests to help in the diagnosis and management of patients with heart disease.

King also reacted to the devastating budget cuts that are now in effect under the sequester -- and the rancorous rhetoric in Washington.

"I've never seen this country [like this]," he said. "I don't know why they can't somehow come together … it's sad."

"Senators were friends. They're not friends anymore," he said reflecting on how politics used to be in Washington. "It's gotta change."

On a lighter note, when asked what he'll be doing in 10 years, King shot back, "I hope living!"
