Clinton Township man, 21, dies in house fire

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJBK) -

Clinton Township firefighters are still investigating what led to a fatal house fire Sunday that claimed the life of a 21-year-old who lived there.

Clinton Twp Fire Chief John Shea says Joshua Luczak and two friends were believed to be sleeping inside the home on Remick Sunday morning when the fire started.

Friends say Luczak was an avid skateboarder, and was up late with his buddies Saturday night watching skateboarding videos.

Fire crews got the call shortly after 11 a.m., responded quickly and discovered Luczak's two friends outside, covered in soot.

Luczak's friends say they were unable to rescue him from his bedroom because the fire and smoke were too thick.

The two young men said they barely made it out themselves, jumping out of a window to escape.

Fire fighters found Luczak in his bedroom. He was pronounced dead on the scene, the result of smoke inhalation and severe burns.

Chief Shea says the fire doesn't appear to be suspicious, but crews are still working to determine the cause.
