The registered owner of a car that crashed in a valley home early Saturday morning is denying involvement in the collision.
Around 1:30 a.m. a car crashed through the exterior wall of a home near Cave Road and Pinnacle Peak.
"The power went out, the clocks went off and the night light went out; I woke up my husband," said Margaret Rehberg. "The next I heard a knocking at the door..I looked out the window, I saw the police."
"Basically I walked out and saw this car sitting in the spot where the opening is. I was just amazed at the fact that, you know, a car had landed there," said Mike Rehberg.
Registration and license plate information for the crashed Mazda revealed the registered owner lives in Twenty-Nine Palms, Calif., but officers also found documents with an address near the collision in the car.
Officers went to the address and found the registered owner of the car, a 20-year-old man, and his 19-year-old cousin.
Officers say the owner told them he wasn't in the car at the time of the crash, but gave conflicting stories about where he was at the time of the crash. The 19-year-old cousin also denied being in the car.
According to police, both men showed signs of being drunk and were cited for underage drinking.
There were no witnesses that could place the owner or his cousin in the Mazda at the time of the collision. No arrests were made.
The 20-year-old never told police the car had been stolen or that he had allowed anyone else to use the car.
There was extensive damage to two cars and the home's garage.
