Let It Rip: Should Detroit get an emergency manager?

Posted: Updated:
SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) -

Governor Rick Snyder will unveil his next step for Detroit on Friday.

"I think everybody's got a pretty good idea what the announcement will be," Mayor Dave Bing said Thursday.

While most people believe an emergency manager is going to be appointed, the mayor believes it's time to embrace the inevitable.

"Too many people think the city can come out of this by themselves.  I've never been one who thought like that," he said.

What happens next, and can an emergency manager really fix Detroit's financial problems?

Joining Huel Perkins and Charlie Langton on our panel to discuss are:

Lisa Howze, a certified public accountant, a former state representative and the first to announce that she wants to be the next mayor of Detroit.

Joe Harris, another certified public accountant, the former chief financial officer of Detroit and the former emergency manager for the City of Benton Harbor.

And Rev. David Alexander Bullock, a preacher, teacher and leader, who is the president of the local chapter of the Rainbow PUSH Coalition.
