    A deadly house explosion rocked Royal Oak and several surrounding communities Wednesday evening.  We've learned a 58-year-old man was killed in the blast.

ROYAL OAK, Mich. (WJBK) -

A man was killed Wednesday when a home in Royal Oak exploded, shaking and damaging other homes in the neighborhood, officials said.

The blast leveled the home on Cooper Ave., just east of Woodward Ave., around 5 p.m.

Officials say a 58-year-old man was inside at the time of the explosion. The Oakland County medical examiner's office has not released his name.

Consumers Energy officials say the cause of the blast is still under investigation. They say around 35 homes, and several nearby businesses, were damaged in the blast.
