ROBBINSDALE, Minn. (KMSP) -

The body of missing Minnesota man Mark Stoneberg was spotted Sunday off the coast of Sayulita, Mexico. The cause of death is believed to be drowning.

Stoneberg, 58, went missing last week after going bodysurfing in the small resort town. His wife, Nancy, was with him at the time but struggled to get help from Mexican authorities.

By the time a search effort was organized last Tuesday evening, it was already dark.

"I couldn't believe it was happening in front of my eyes," Stoneberg said. "I saw him so far out, saw the waves coming in and you could see he just couldn't get back."

Stoneberg also leaves behind three children.
