A valley multimillionaire awaiting trial for trying to have his wife killed has been indicted on two additional counts after allegedly hiring a hitman to kill his wife again.
Fred B. Knadler, 75, was first arrested in January 2012 for conspiring to pay one of his employees to kill his wife.
Police say Knadler tried to hire one of his employees to get rid of the body of his soon-to-be ex-wife. That employee recorded their conversation, then called police. Knadler and his wife of 18 years were going through a messy divorce, and millions of dollars were at stake.
He offered the employee $20,000 to dig a hole, bury his wife's body, and dispose of her car, according to court paperwork.
Ever since his arrest on Jan. 14, 2012, Knadler has remained in custody awaiting trial. But he didn't learn his lesson. From behind bars, police say he plotted to hire someone to kill the two victims from the previous case.
An undercover Phoenix Police detective met with Knadler, who offered to pay him $10,000 to have his wife and the employee from the first case killed.
On Feb. 20, 2013, Knadler was indicted on two additional counts of conspiracy to commit murder. He remains jailed.
Knadler is the owner of Arizona Shower Doors, a bathroom door company with offices in multiple states.
