PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - The murder trial of a man charged with killing another man in his Providence apartment during a botched robbery attempt in 2004 is starting.

Jury selection in the trial of Ramon Virola started Monday in Superior Court in Providence.

Virola was one of four men charged in connection with the killing of Christopher Nelson. Nelson was shot when he tried to wrestle the gun away during a robbery attempt at his Federal Hill apartment.

Three other men have already been convicted in the case, two for second-degree murder and one for assault and conspiracy.

Virola fled Rhode Island and was arrested in 2011 in Arizona, where authorities say he was living under an assumed identity. At the time of his arrest, he was one of Rhode Island's most wanted fugitives.
