NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Police say an elderly man was shot and killed inside a home in Brooklyn early Sunday morning.

Officers found 79-year-old James Jackson with a gunshot wound to the neck inside a building on Gates Avenue in the Bushwick section around 2:25 a.m.

Jackson was taken to Woodhull Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities said Jackson had no criminal history and it's not clear of he was shot by a stray bullet or was the intended target.

Police have made no arrests and are still investigating.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
